For the cost of one cup of coffee per month, you can join a community of supporters who make Ravenswood an even better place to live. Our events and community outreach programs would not be possible without your support!

PERKS! RNA Members receive invitations to events, socials, and happy hours throughout the year, and are eligible for a free native garden!

Wish to start your own native garden? Become an RNA Member and we will supply you with free native plants and flowers, labor, and expertise to green your portion of Ravenswood. Choose from 20 varieties of Illinois native flowers and grasses (75 six-inch seedlings). RNA will till the soil and assist you with design and planting. A $400 value!

RNA has helped create over 25 native gardens with Ravenswood neighbors on corners, parkways and courtyards since 2016.

Membership helps fund our initiatives:

  • Block Captain Initiative
    • RNA helps your street develop a network of neighbors to stay informed and look out for each other’s safety. Block Captains become leaders to direct assistance to neighbors in need and organize get-to-know-you social events.
  • Free Community Socials
    • Join us for a beverage at a local business! Meet your neighbors, special guest speakers, and collaborate on projects to make Ravenswood the best place to live in the city.
  • Native Garden Initiative
    • Through our Greening Committee, we beautify neighborhood street corners and parkways with native flower gardens. These native plants, grown by RNA, help with drainage, support pollinators, and are used as multiple annual educational experiences for all ages! Become an RNA Member and a proud steward of a beautiful green space in Ravenswood: we will supply you with plants, labor, and expertise to install and maintain your garden.
  • Neighborhood Clean-up Days
    • RNA Membership helps us purchase trash pickers, gloves and bags – volunteer neighbors help us collect trash from our streets, alleys and train corridors.
  • Ravenswood Light Up Nights
    • This festival of lights has drawn over 2,500 attendees since 2020. Walk the neighborhood for holiday lights, live music, a tree lighting ceremony, food & drink specials, the “Best in Glow” decorating competition, and lots of good cheer! This simple idea turned exciting tradition returns for its 5th year in 2024!
  • Ravenswood Front Yard Free-Cycle
    • This sell-nothing garage sale has over 150 Ravenswood households participating every June, and everything is free! It’s a great opportunity to pass along items you no longer want to others.
  • Garden Crawl & Happy Hour
    • Join us for free tours and a happy hour! Tours have included Ravenswood native gardens, local tree canopies, community gardens, Montrose Metra veggie gardens, the public orchard, Sunnyside Savanna, and a special “Learn to Bird” tour with the Chicago Bird Alliance.
  • Mulch Madness
    • Bring leaves, get drinks, and help native gardens! Bring bagged leaves to our drop zone where they will be shredded and turned into leaf mulch for our native gardens. Residents who drop bags of leaves are eligible to join us for a special happy hour in Ravenswood!
  • Committee on Planning and Development
    • CPAD serves as the Ravenswood Neighbors Association’s dedicated body to the review of planning and development proposals in Ravenswood.
